Announcing the Release of a New and Improved Resource for Your Home

After an arduous, but edifying journey for the past two years, the revised Hymns for Family Worship is finally available. There are 100 hymns in this new edition, with each hymn accompanied by its history, lyrics for the piano, and chords for a guitar. The first two hymns are attached for your perusal along with the complete Table of Contents.

Building Faith Families strongly encourages families to make time for regular family devotions. When our boys were younger, we found singing, and occasionally memorizing hymns as a family, to be a rich addition to our worship experience. We were particularly drawn to hymns which have stood the test of time, and are rich in scriptural truth.

As we learn more about the history and background for these anointed songs of worship, we are encouraged from the author’s inspiring and personal story. Each song is a testimony which inspires us on our own journey and enhances our worship.

It is our hope that this collection of 100 classic hymns will assist your family in learning these timeless classics and singing them together in your home, car, or church. The print is large enough for children to read easily, and the four CDs provide piano accompaniment for learning the tunes.

Short Video

Watch a short video of me talking about the new book below.

Fanny Crosby, from the history for Blessed Assurance:

“It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me. If I had a choice, I would still choose to remain blind…for when I die, the first face I will ever see will be the face of my blessed Savior.”

Elisabeth Elliot writes:

“Many of the churches my husband Lars and I visit on our travels seem to know nothing of the great old hymns that have instructed, comforted, and enriched the church for centuries. Hymns constitute a crucial part of worship…Hymns will get you through the night.

In January of 1956, when five women were waiting with bated breath to find out whether our husbands were dead or alive, I lay in bed in Nate Saint’s home, my little daughter Valerie sick in a crib beside me. The hymn How Firm a Foundation, with those magnificent words taken from Isaiah 43:1-2, sustained me.” (Reprinted with permission from the Elisabeth Elliot Newsletter)

Testimonial

A few weeks ago I received this timely testimonial on singing hymns at home:

“We have been doing Bible time and worship/singing from the hymn book!!! I love hearing for days the 4 & 5 year olds playing and singing “Marching to Zion,” and “Blessed Assurance.” That brings me great joy from the LORD! We have also started singing through the hymnbook as I have started teaching a toddler’s Sunday school class at church.” – K. B.
